January 26-January 30
We have had a busy and exciting week filled with lots of wonderful learning!
Phonics
We continued exploring r-controlled vowels, focussing on words with the ir and ur spellings (which sound like er, as in flower). Our weekly spelling test will take place on Monday as Friday has been a Non-Instruction Day. Students have been provided with the Roll and Read sheet containing the words to practice. We have also been practicing these words extensively in class.
Literacy
Students practiced writing complete sentences with proper grammar and punctuation by writing about what cavities are and what they learned about them after our class lesson. They also enjoyed using their imagination by writing about a superpower they would love to have and what they would do with it!
Math
We have been learning all about graphing. We wrapped up our work with pictographs and began learning about dot plots, helping students organize and interpret data in new ways.
It's been a fantastic week of growth and curiosity. Ask your child about what they learned!
